Arizona meeting for asbestos lawsuit inappropriate
City attorneys say Arizona meeting for asbestos lawsuit inappropriate, NEW YORK New York City won’t spend money to send attorneys to Arizona to meet with lawyers in an asbestos litigation case.
City attorneys have objected to meeting the master for asbestos litigation Laraine Pacheco at her Arizona home. They want Pacheco to change the venue of the meeting to New York since the cases were filed in Manhattan
Pacheco is responsible for mediating claims filed by victims of asbestos exposure that go before Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Helen Freedman.
The Daily News reportes that Pacheco e-mailed attorneys on both sides of two pending cases in which victims claim asbestos in fireproofing and insulation caused their health problems. She invited them to an April party at her Arizona home where she spoke of “settlement conferences in the pool and spa.”
